You’ve joined the DBA. Now what?
Q: When can I come to the Belo Mansion?
A: You can come anytime during DBA regular office hours, Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or for after-hours meetings. A buffet lunch is served on weekdays from the hours of 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at a reasonable price. You do not have to come to a meeting to enjoy lunch at the Belo Mansion! Parking in our garage is $4.00.
Q: How do I get to the Belo Mansion?
A: We are located at 2101 Ross Avenue in downtown Dallas.
From 75 North Central Expressway: Take the 35E exit, and then exit Pearl Street. Go South on Pearl Street and the Belo Mansion will be on the corner of Ross Avenue and Pearl. Take a right on Ross Avenue and another immediate right on Olive Street. Entrance to the parking garage is on Olive Street at Flora Street.
From the Tollway: Take the downtown exit, and follow the signs for Pearl Street. Continue South on Pearl and the Belo Mansion will be on the corner of Ross Avenue and Pearl. Take a right on Ross Avenue and another immediate right on Olive Street. Entrance to the parking garage is on Olive Street at Flora Street.
Q: How do I know when my Committee or Section is meeting?
A: Visit the DBA’s website at www.dallasbar.org for up-to-date meeting information. Also, the DBA newsletter Headnotes, and the DBA Online (weekly e-newsletter) have a calendar of events. Many Committees and Sections will contact their members directly and notify them of meeting dates. If you are unsure about when you Committee or Section meets, please call (214) 220-7447. All meetings are held at the Belo Mansion, and generally meetings are held during the noon hour.
Q: Can I come to any meeting, even if I am not a member of that Section or Committee?
A: You are welcome to attend any Section or Committee meeting, as long as you are a member of the DBA. If you intend to come to more than on meeting of any given Section, you should join that Section Membership in a DBA Section is a great way to enhance your practice area, stay on top of current issues and get to know other lawyers in your field of interest. Section dues are nominal—from $10 to $30 per year.
Q: How do I find my meeting room?
A: There is a daily schedule located at the entrances. There is also a map on the table in the Pavilion Atrium. The schedule lists the meetings being held that day with their corresponding meeting rooms. Additionally, our friendly staff is always eager to assist you.
Q: When I join the DBA, I did not join a Section or Committee. Can I sign up now?
A: Yes! Contact our Membership Department at (214) 220-7414. Then look for your meeting listed in Headnotes. We also encourage you to frequently visit our website at www.dallasbar.org. A wealth of information about the association is posted there, along with schedule updates and details about upcoming events and programs.
Q: When will my dues need to be paid again?
A: If you joined in September through December of the current year, your dues are valid until the following December. If you joined in January through August of the current year, you will receive a renewal statement in October of the current year for the upcoming membership year with dues being due by December 31.
